SocialEdCon 2012 (formerly EduBloggerCon)

2010 Mid-day Photo
Saturday, June 23rd, 2012
8:00am - 4:00pm
In the Conference Center, Room 6A
Part of the EduBloggerCon tradition, SocialEdCon is the fifth all-day unconference held the Saturday before ISTE, and it's a great event for beginners and regular attenders alike! Come join us for an amazing community experience filled with interesting conversations in a highly social environment.
SocialEdCon is free (thanks to the amazing generosity of ISTE). IMPORTANT: There is no formal signup, but for planning purposes, communication, and connecting with others, it's helpful to have you indicate your attendance at the Classroom 2.0 event page.
Honestly, this is a great event, and many will tell you it is the event to attend at ISTE because it's all about connecting and sharing. SocialEdCon is based on the idea of an "unconference", and is being organized by the participants in real time on-site. It's maybe better referred to as a "collaborative conference." There are no formal presentations, just "conversations" that you or others facilitate. To lead a session, it is not expected that you prepare material but that you have a topic you want to open to discussion. If you're not sure what to expect for EduBloggerCon, take a look at the photos and schedule from EduBloggerCon 2011. Every year is different but equally fun!

Agenda
8:00 am Organizers Meeting (anyone welcome)
Identify rooms/areas for discussions sessions
Determine roles and process: session ideas organizing, wiki mirroring, hashtag creation, etc.
9:00 am Session Creation Process--final proposals and voting!
9:30 am Organizing Begins
Socializing time while organizers meet. Organizers order the ideas by 1) most interest and 2) similar/identical topics. Sessions are scheduled into the wiki (here) by placing most popular topics each in a separate time slot. Other sessions are then thoughtfully added to time slots with some desire to balance the schedule and interest levels (an art, not a science)
